Ingredients
- ♡ 1 cup raw sugar
- ♡ 3 cups of water
- ♡ 2 Tbls lemon juice
- ♡ 1 cinnamon stick
- ♡ 4 cloves
- ♡ 1 tsp Vanilla extract
- ♡ 4 pears
- ♡ Double cream to serve
Instructions
- ♥ Put the sugar and water in a saucepan large enough to hold the upright pears.
- ♥ Heat the water and sugar over low heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to the boil, and add the lemon juice, cinnamon stick, cloves and vanilla extract.
- ♥ Peel the pears, keeping their stalks attached and slightly cut the base so they can stand in the sauce pan.
- ♥ Place the pears upright in the saucepan, cover and poach very gently for 45-60 minutes, or until tender. Remove the pears.
- ♥ Increase the heat and reduce the liquid until it thicken to a syrup
- ♥ Serve the pears warm or chilled with the syrup and/or double cream.
