Often “attitude” is quoted as a key factor in achieving fitness success. However, the attitude of those around us may have a greater impact on our new year’s resolve.
Instant gratification is what our society is geared to expect and after a long week of exercising with little visible “results,” it will be a challenge to muster the rah rah needed to keep going.
As we move into the coming weeks, it will be harder to hold tight our resolution.
We may start to see our fitness improving and feel progressively better. However, the lifestyle changes we are making will begin to impinge on those around us.
While family and friends will want what is best for us, they may find it difficult to adjust to new lifestyle choices of eating better and exercising regularly.
Part of our fitness challenge will be to manage our relationships with understanding and love.
Irrespective of the pressure to go back to the comfort of old habits, we must strive to continue for the sake of our family, friends and ourselves.
The importance of a healthy lifestyle is difficult to teach with words. It is only by living the example of healthy choices that we can help those dearest to us discover how good it feels to eat well and exercise.

“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Eat well and live well
