Yeah! We are halfway through! Week 3 promises to be energetic and entertaining! If you haven’t as yet begun your 2017 fitness challenge, this week will get you moving in the right direction!

“I will exercise tomorrow” is the thief of fitness

When we pledge to exercise  tomorrow we may feel as if we have made our life easier today; the reality is the opposite, it hurts us physically,  mentally and psychologically.

Whenever you hear yourself say these words, recognise them as self-sabotage. Stop whatever it is you are doing, go somewhere private and march for 3 minutes with as much intensity as you can.

Do not let the self-saboteur win on this one, be strong and march it out.  Once the day goes without any exercise, it begins the downward spiral into days, weeks and months without fitness.

Now is the time to revisit your fitness resolution and your list of excuses that are holding you back from your fitness.

If you made an action plan at the beginning of the challenge, how did you resolve to move the roadblocks in your fitness to allow you to continue on your journey? If not think about that now.

Feeling overwhelmed by exercise?

One reason many people find starting to exercise overwhelming is that they doubt they have the skills and resources they need to exercise.

Fitness professionals make exercise look easy; they appear strong and confident and seem to have the time to spend.

Further, fitness professional seem to love exercise! It makes it difficult for many of us to identify with fitness perfection.

We, therefore, fight fierce battles with our self and the fear of success and failure,  “who will I become when I am fit?” ruminates profoundly in our heads. These mind battles led to “paralyses by analysis.”

Fear not, you will be the same loving person after exercise as you were before, but your body will become stronger and better able to serve you in living your life with good health.

Find your peace with exercise

It’s time to let it go and find your peace with exercise.  There is no perfect workout that will get you to your goal quickly. Fitness success is about eating simple whole foods and exercising regularly.

Once your 9 minutes of exercise becomes your routine, it will feel natural. The over thinking about exercise will disappear, as will all the reasons why exercise is not for you.

Trust yourself, trust your body and the reasons you have made this fitness resolution challenge – You can and you will succeed in achieving improved fitness,  but only if you actually exercise 9 minutes per day 5 days per week.

Starting exercise is difficult and all of us have to start before we can be on our way to better health.

I remember starting  my fitness journey; kicking and screaming! I disliked exercise with a passion, but it was the only thing that was going to positively improve my health.

Four years on and exercise isn’t such a violent battle with me and my health has improved more than I could have imagined.
