We have heard the expression “Health is Wealth” however too often it is not until we confront serious illness that we fully appreciate its value.
“Too busy” is THE most given reason for not exercising. Whether “too busy” is an excuse or a reasonable reason is irrelevant – the consequence is the same.
Lack of exercise accelerates degeneration of the body and promotes the inability to best engage in life’s activities.
Dr. James M. Rippe, a leading cardiologist in the US, surveyed Fortune 500 CEOs for his book “Fit for success” and revealed two-thirds of CEO’s engaged in aerobic exercise at least three times a week.
The CEO’s reported that exercise helped reduce stress, increase energy, and boost productivity. These guys are not only wealthy they are extremely busy and fully aware of the value of prioritising exercise!
The most effective method to ensure that exercise is a priority in your life is to make it habit or routine, like, for example, showering. Most of us would sour with the thought of not showering for a week, and this is what exercise must become in your life if you are to led a fit and healthy life.
I leave you this year with a poem about choice by an unknown author.
I choose .…..
To live by choice, not by chance;
To make changes, not excuses;
To be motivated, not manipulated;
To be useful, not used;
To excel, not compete.
I choose self-esteem, not self-pity.
I choose to listen to my inner voice, not the random opinion of others.
I choose to be ME!
In life, we may not always be able to control the consequences of our choices, however having health in strength of body and mind will enable us to be resilient and continue to enjoy our life to its maximum potential.
Choose to exercise not make excuses!
