Welcome to 2016!

Are you ready for a happier and healthier you this year?

Today is the eve of our new year’s challenge and like all anticipated occasions we begin to prepare ourselves for the big event!

At this time of the year we will be bombarded with “how to get fit” advice and will recognise from last year that the fundamental logic hasn’t changed.

The stand out logical advice will be that while there is no best time to exercise, morning exercising is easier to prioritise and make a habit.

Unfortunately, logic does not help us get up in the morning. In fact, our analytical minds will race for the nearest logical argument to keep us in bed!

Sleeping is essential to exercising well and for many who are night owls, morning exercising will be improbable, but not impossible.

Creating a habit is easier than breaking one, however, putting in place initial physical mechanisms to drag us out of bed and into exercising is essential.

What will work for you is a matter of your trial and error, the following has worked for me:

1.    An alarm that will wake the neighborhood
2.    Coffee ready to go
3.    Exercise gear ready to wear.

If your fitness goal has eluded you in the past for all the right reasons, this year start creating a habit that will get you closer to having the strength to work towards achieving better fitness.

Like me, it may be a matter of getting up one hour earlier and going to bed 30 minutes earlier – not easy!!!
