Kettlebell Workout

Learning how to correctly swing a Kettlebell can be very entertaining, especially mastering a pelvic thrust that would make Frank n Furter so proud!

The Kettlebell swing originated in Russia with bored farmers using the iron weights (designed to weigh crops) to show off their strength.

The swing itself is considered holistic as it engages the whole body and mind, however if performed incorrectly or with a moment’s lapse of concentration it will lead to injury. In fact, the Kettlebell swing has one of the highest injury rates of any exercise. Does this mean we do not attempt it?

Injury with the Kettlebell exercise is high, however not as high as sitting for long periods. Sitting is more hazardous for our health, causing muscles to deteriorate and “forget” how to function.

Consequently, a simple, awkward pickup of dropped keys, an unexpected turn, or misjudgment of step can lead to months of pain and rehab.

With the Kettlebell swing exercise, we strengthen muscles in our back for posture, in our glutes for metabolism, in our core for physical and emotional stability. Done right, it will feel good and you will look good for better muscle tone and coordination.

It is well worth learning how to swing a Kettlebell!

All the best with your pelvic thrusts and remember: It is not how good you look – it is how good you feel!
