The winter weather is already starting to settle, making our cosy winter woollies more attractive than warming up with exercise. Soon, getting out of a warm bed will seem pointless especially on those freezing winter mornings.
The main point is ………do it any way!
The following fitness benefits are something to consider:
- You burn more calories as your body works harder to keep warm and workout.
- Your endurance performance increases when you challenge yourself in cold weather, you strengthen your heart, lungs and circulatory system, thereby improving your overall health.
- Regular exercise strengthens your immune system, with blood pumping through your body; immune cells can circulate more quickly helping them attack infections (such as cold and flu) before they take hold.
- Exercising in winter can help fight the winter blues: SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). A good workout releases feel good hormones helping you feel invigorated, excited and energized for your day!
Remember: It’s only cold if you are standing still!
